The toxic mercury used by gold diggers to loosen the gold from the soil not only causes memory loss, but also kidney and brain damage. The mercury content in some areas is four times higher than the international permitted level. But that's just the small gold diggers; in the industrial gold mining cyanide is used, cyanide! And there is even talk of slavery!
